Los Angeles Eats vol. 1

Sharing all of the places I eat while I’m living in LA, because an Instagram story isn’t enough! Order of best to worst, because I won’t make you wait. Here is week 1… already some of my favs!

Beachwood Cafe — 8.6/10

Did I go here just because Harry Styles mentioned it in his song, “Falling”? Yes. Am I going to go back? I already have.

But actually this place is amazing. I went for breakfast and got the best iced vanilla almond milk latte ever with a yummy customized scramble. My mom got the french toast which was also so good. Their menu is huge but not in a Cheesecake Factory way.. more in a “I need to try everything on this menu because everything sounds good” kind of way. Excited to go for their lunch, stay tuned!

Bonus: the drive up Beachwood Dr. includes an amazing view of the Hollywood sign.

Superba food + bread — 7.2/10

I went here for dinner at their Hollywood location (which I think is new). I got the salmon which was perfectly combined with a sour cream and onion sauce on top of potatoes and cucumbers. It was so good I would’ve finished the whole thing if I hadn’t filled up on their HOUSE MADE BREAD THAT IS TO DIE FOR. I will be going back just because the bread was so good. It came out with 3 different kinds and a butter, but there were also other spreads you can order. The bread was the highlight aside from the cute inside that was the perfect dinner ambiance. I want to go back for brunch and sit on their patio and try all their pastries because I know they’re going to be delicious.

Sugarfish (takeout) — 6.4/10

The emphasis on takeout is important because I have been in person and the rating was much higher... but that didn’t happen this week so we’re only talking about takeout. I’m sure you’ve seen their takeout boxes of sushi because they are so aesthetic. They keep the sauces off and although I know it’s so everything stays fresh, it was a downside to their rating. It comes with a diagram in the box of what to pair the fish with, but they all look very similar and I got them mixed up. I understand this was my fault, but it’s my blog and so its going to effect my rating.

Aside from the user error, their sushi is amazing. I got the Trust Me and enjoyed everything (except for the Tuna Sashimi…I like when my sushi has rice because of texture, but the flavor was still good). I probably wouldn’t order takeout again, but it won’t be the last time I have their sushi.

Stout Burger — 6.2/10

My mom and I chose this place after a long day of moving in, so I can’t tell if it was actually delicious or if I was just really hungry. Either way I am positive that their loaded fries are amazing. As for their burgers, they have 8 on the menu and I got the Six Weeker which had brie, arugula, caramelized onions, and fig jam. Definitely unique and I finished it. I guess now that I’m writing this it was good and I would go back, just not a huge fan of burgers to begin with so I’m a tough crowd.

edo bites — 6.1/10

This is a cute restaurant at The Grove. We sat outside and I accidentally ordered bottled water instead of the free tap water lol.. I got the Ham and Brie Sandwich that came with a side salad and it was pretty good. I wouldn’t go back just because I don’t think there’s another thing I wanted to try on the menu, but I don’t regret going at all.

Monsieur Marcel — 4.9/10

This is in the farmer’s market also at The Grove. It’s the only sit-down restaurant in there and I didn’t love it. I got the Kale Ceasar, which is unlike me so nothing else sounded that good on the menu and I love seafood. The Ceasar had chicken on it but I didn’t realize so I also go shrimp on top. It was a lot of protein but I used the chicken in a homemade pasta the next night and they didn’t charge me for the shrimp so no complaints here. Next time I would try another one of the many vendors instead of going back here.

Chipotle on Vine street — 10/10

For bonus content my nearest Chipotle gets a 10/10. Amazing portions, perfect bowl. Maybe my bar is just low because I feel like both the Chipotle near my house and at school are not delicious and my bowl rarely tastes good. I appreciate this Chipotle and its easy parking and I am happy it is my nearest location.

If you were wondering my order is half a scoop of white rice, black beans, chicken, double corn salsa, sour cream, cheese, and extra lettuce.
