Ole miss dorm links/packing list (Crosby Hall)
When Folklore era Taylor Swift said, “August slipped away”, she meant it. I always found it helpful to start figuring out what I wanted my dorm decor to look like a couple months before move in to avoid getting lost in the chaos of summer and letting things fall through the cracks. After 4 years at UT, I’ve learned what is a NEED in a dorm and what is a pass. Here’s what I put on my little sister’s move-in list for Ole Miss Crosby Hall!
Her bed details:
White bedskirt: Can hide your extra storage containers under the bed!
Monogram accent pillow: Adds a homey, personal touch to the room.
26x26 Square Pink Pillows: Can never go wrong with adding pillows!
Headboard: It may seem unnecessary, but it can TRANSFORM a dorm.
Comforter: I always liked a simple, white comforter so that way you play around with color in the smaller accent decor.
Mattress topper: Might just be the most important purchase for your Twin XL.
Foot warmer blanket: Makes your bed look cozy and perfect to snuggle up with when catching up with your roomie.
Desk/vanity decor:
Desk Skirt: One of the best hacks my mom came up with was to use a tablecloth!! Super inexpensive and washes well when makeup gets on it.
Desk chair: It looks great if you and your roommate have the same ones.
Makeup mirror: Adds great lighting to the room even when you’re not using it to do makeup.
White Peel and Stick to Cover Desk/Furniture: Helps cover up the damaged wood in dorm desks.
Mirror for desk: Along with a makeup mirror, my sister added a mirror that is attached to the desk wall!
other room decor You don’t want to forget:
Bedside table/fridge and microwave holder: This is a popular dorm item for a reason! It is cute and functional.
Over the Door Mirror: Thin and light so it makes move in easy.
Her lamps: Such a fun way to tie in the room color scheme.
5x7 Accent Rug: She put this on top of a large carpet and it made the dorm feel even homier.
Etsy artwork: It was so cute that these were personal to Ole Miss locations.
Curtains: Cute curtains are a detail that is easy to forget but can totally elevate a space!
Curtain rod: These gold & glass ones have such a fun detail on them.
Footstools/Storage Cubes: Makes it easier to get into the lofted bed and has more storage.
Functional items/more storage
Shower caddy: This is one of the best ones.
Shower shoes: A purchase no one wants to make, but you need!
Closet bins: The more storage, the better!! You’ll just get overwhelmed if things don’t have a place.
Hangers: You’ll feel better if your hangers match, trust me.
Command strips: Always good to have on hand!
