My Halloween Costumes
Autumn just started and while my pumpkin candles are lit, I am not. Halloween is my least favorite holiday, but it’s arguably one of the biggest holidays in college. You’ve likely heard the term “Halloweekend”, and this word alone stresses me out. BUT, as a college student I’ve learned how to to avoid getting overwhelmed by the amount of costumes I “need” or where the best parties are. I knew people who would have FOUR costumes because of how many halloween parties there were, so here are some of my favorites that I did in college with links to everything I bought. I hope this gives you some spooky outfit inspiriation that will take some weight off your shoulders and make you feel “gourd-geous!”
Mermaid costume
I loved this one as a girl who loves to accessorize!!
Bonus points: can be a couples costume! Wore this to my senior year halloween date event and had my date be a sailor, it was super easy to buy his costume from Amazon: Captain Hat
Put these shell clips in my hair which really elevated the outfit! Lots to choose from in this pack of 12!
I wore sneakers since this was a date event, but you could also accessorize strappy heals with these clips too!
I never miss a moment to wear pearls.. so i got these layered costume pearls and wore this seashell choker with it
For the top, I had gotten lucky and this seafoam green Urban Outfitters corset was on sale. I cut off the straps to make it more of a mermaid vibe!
Similar options for the corset:
For the skirt, I ordered this green sequin mini skirt to look like a tail.
Blair Waldorf
Since everyone tells me I look like her! This was also for our sorority date event Halloween, except this year I brought my friend (yes, now NYC roommate) Lauren! So of course - she was Serena.
Whole outfit was from Amazon:
Socks - came in a two pack so I gave Lauren the other pair!
Of course the best part was the tiktoks… here are the ones we made if you decide to go the gossip girl route:
olivia rodrigo
I wore this for Halloween during my sophomore year of college, and decided to go with one of her outfits from the “Good 4 u” music video. Being told I looked like her inspired me to do this outfit, just like Blair Waldorf. (Can you sense a theme?) I love an easy-to-shop for costume and while my ideas may not always be elaborate, at least I execute!
I borrowed this costume from a friend so I don’t have the links to the exact items I was wearing, but here are some great alternatives!
Skirt- the one I’m wearing is sold out from Brandy Melville a few years ago, but here is a similar one!
Corset top - any simple, white corset tank will do!
Paired this with the chunkiest jewelry I own - very Sour era.
I also followed Olivia’s vogue makeup routine to really get into it!
Taylor Swift
Didn’t wear this on halloween but i love the Taylor halloween costumes (especially in a couples costume with your partner being Travis in a Chiefs jersey, or even better yet his “I can do it with a broken heart” Eras Tour costume)
I made this one from scratch for the eras tour to look like the cheerleaders in the Shake it off music video, but here are the bases if you’re wanting to try something similar!
More details on how we made it in my eras tour vlog:
